Uzbekistan has made a real revolution in the cotton cultivation during the independence years. The Uzbek research has solved the problem, which the breeders of the leading cotton world countries have been deciding for decades.
The world's first gene-knockout technology has been developed in the laboratories of the Center of Genomics and Bioinformatics of the Academy of Sciences, in the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, and in the "Uzpahtasanoat" association. This technology allowed to create a unique domestic varieties of genetically modified cotton "Porlock" series with improved characteristics both on the regime of cultivation and vegetation, and on the fiber quality.
