Scientist of Uzbekistan is awarded the title of academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
Director of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, academician Shavkat Salikhov was elected a foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of the People’s Republic of China for outstanding achievements in the field of science. Scientists who have a great international scientific authority and made a significant contribution to the development of science are elected foreign members of the Academy of Sciences of the People’s Republic of China. Shavkat Salikhov, conducting scientific research in the field of bioorganic chemistry and biotechnology, is the first scientist from Uzbekistan elected to the Academy of Sciences of China and the second among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. So far, the only scientist elected as a foreign member from the CIS countries was the Russian scientist, Nobel Prize winner in physics Jores Alferov.
