Mission and principles of the Laboratory

The mission of the Proteomics and Metabolomics laboratory is to provide a high level of research using modern proteomic and metabolomic technologies; creating a favorable environment for the growth of highly qualified specialists proficient in modern scientific technologies; deepening and expanding knowledge about dynamic processes in the studied organisms based on proteomic and metabolomic profile data of the tested objects; adequate use of the obtained data in the development of new genetic vectors to improve the economically valuable traits of agricultural plants, in the production of raw materials for the pharmacological or food industries, as well as in the creation of plant protection products from various biotic and abiotic stresses. In addition, an important mission of the laboratory will be to study the mechanisms of implementation of the effects of RNA interference in new biotechnological varieties of agricultural crops, as well as to develop methods for assessing their safety.

The laboratory will operate according to the following principles:

- support and attraction of young specialists in proteomics and metabolomics and providing conditions for their research at the level of world science;

- participation in republican and international conferences to test the data obtained among specialists in these areas of biological science;

- participation in the development of future strategic plans for the development of competitive biotechnology companies in Uzbekistan and their connection with international biotechnology companies;

- working closely with state agricultural sectors and departments of the Academy of Sciences, as well as business to transfer research results from the scientific laboratory to commerce in Uzbekistan;

- conducting training with students of educational institutions to familiarize them with the latest achievements in the field of proteomics and metabolomics.

Purpose and main tasks.

The goal of the laboratory is to create, based on fundamental studies of proteomic and metabolomic profiles of various genotypes, innovative and competitive technologies for the industrial, agricultural, medical and other sectors of Uzbekistan.

To achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve the following tasks:

- study the proteomic and metabolomic profile of the main gene-knockout cotton varieties in order to identify mechanisms for increasing productivity;

- study the mechanisms of resistance of new biotechnological cotton varieties to biotic and abiotic stresses (salt and drought resistance, resistance to phytopathogens);

- study the proteomic and metabolomic profile of other agricultural crops created at the Center using the RNA interference method;

- using bioinformatics approaches, to identify candidate genes that are promising for the creation of new high-yielding varieties of priority agricultural crops that are resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses;

- develop and implement proteomic and metabolomic approaches and methods that can be used to assess the safety of genetically modified plant varieties created using advanced genetic engineering methods.
