The mission and principles of the Laboratory of Proteomics and Metabolomics.

The mission of the laboratory of Proteomics and Metabolomics is to ensure a high level of scientific research using modern proteomic and metabolomic technologies; to create a favorable environment for the growth of highly qualified specialists who possess modern scientific technologies; to deepen and expand knowledge about dynamic processes in the studied organisms based on data from the proteomic and metabolomic profile of the tested objects; adequate use of the data obtained in the development of new genetic vectors to improve economically valuable traits of agricultural plants, in obtaining raw materials for the pharmacological or food industry, as well as in the creation of plant protection products against various biotic and abiotic stresses. In addition, an important mission of the laboratory will be to study the mechanisms of the effects of RNA interference in new biotechnological varieties of crops, as well as the development of methods for assessing their safety.

The laboratory will work according to the following principles:

- support and involvement of young specialists in proteomics and metabolomics and provision of conditions for their research at the level of world science;
- participation in national and international conferences to test the obtained data among specialists in these fields of biological science;
- participation in the development of future strategic plans for the development of competitive biotechnology companies in Uzbekistan and their connection with international biotechnology companies;
- working closely with government agricultural sectors and departments of the Academy of Sciences, as well as business to transfer research results from the scientific laboratory to commerce in Uzbekistan;
- conducting training with students of educational institutions to familiarize them with the latest achievements in the field of proteomics and metabolomics.

The purpose and main tasks.

The purpose of the laboratory is to create innovative, competitive technologies for industrial, agricultural, medical and other sectors of Uzbekistan based on fundamental research of proteomic and metabolomic profiles of various genotypes.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve the following tasks:
- to investigate the proteomic and metabolomic profile of the main gene-knockout cotton varieties in order to identify mechanisms for increasing yields;
- to investigate the mechanisms of resistance of new biotechnological cotton varieties to biotic and abiotic stresses (salt and drought resistance, resistance to phytopathogens);
- to study the proteomic and metabolomic profile of other crops produced at the Center using the RNA interference method;
- using bioinformatic approaches, to identify candidate genes promising for the creation of new high-yielding, biotic and abiotic stress-resistant varieties of priority crops;
- to develop and put into practice proteomic and metabolomic approaches and methods that can be used to assess the safety of genetically modified plant varieties created using advanced genetic engineering methods.
