Academician Behzod Yuldashev was elected president of the Academy of Sciences at general meeting of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, which was held on 10 January. Prime minister Abdulla Aripov participated in the meeting.

Behzod Yuldashev (born in 1945) is Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He led the Academy of Sciences in 2000−2005. He worked as director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. He was a member of the Senate.

Doctor of biological sciences, academician Shavkat Salihov was the president of the Academy of Sciences from March 2006.
