In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from April 1, 2014, № D-4247 “On organizational measures on realization of the International scientific conference on the theme “Historical heritage of the scientists and philosophers of the medieval East, its role and importance for the modern civilization”, in Samarkand” (15-16 may) will be held the international conference, aimed at deep study and understanding of lasting value historical scientific heritage of the scientists and philosophers of the medieval East, widely known domestic and world public with their priceless contribution to the development of world civilization, involving research centers and leading scientists from different countries to a comprehensive study of their writings and discoveries, careful preservation and popularization of this intellectual heritage of mankind, as the basis of development of modern science, its connection with the present day and upbringing youth in the spirit of understanding that “XXI century – knowledge and intellectual labour”.Special attention at the conference will be paid to the analysis of the scientific heritage of such outstanding scientists-Encyclopaedists, as Muhammad al-Khorezmi, Akhmad al-Fargoniy, Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, Ibn Sino, Mirzo Ulugbek and others, as well as the great masters of artistic literature and linguistics, as Alisher Navoi, Mahmoud Zamakhshari, Zakhiriddin Babur and others It is expected that the reports of leading domestic and foreign researchers on the analysis of scientific activity of the mentioned and other philosophers and scientists, will be disclosed wide palette, reflecting features scientific and cultural Renaissance that took place in Central Asia in the IX-XI and XIV-XV centuriesAfter the plenary session, the conference will continue its work in the format of four sections: “the Outstanding achievements of scientists of the medieval East, working in the field of exact Sciences and their contribution to formation and development of modern science (astronomy, mathematics, geography, geodesy)”; “Scientific heritage of the scientists who made a special contribution to the development of natural Sciences (medicine, pharmacology, chemistry, Mineralogy)”; “Historical and philosophical heritage of scientists and thinkers”; “Scientific heritage of scientists and thinkers in the field of linguistics and literature”.

The conference will also discuss the forthcoming research tasks on creation of directories available in the vaults of the written heritage, bibliographic references, and implementation of projects aimed to guarantee the preservation of this heritage, digitization of manuscripts and ensuring broad public access digitized versions of ancient written sources via Internet resources, implementation of scientific translations of the manuscripts in various languages, creation of documentary films about the great thinkers and scientists in cooperation with the leading TV channels of the world, specializing in the production and demonstration of popular scientific and historical programs and films with the participation of recognized domestic and foreign researchers.

It is expected that the conference will become a starting point of creation of a special web site devoted to the history of science of Uzbekistan. It will include a biobibliographic, scientific information and other information about great thinkers and scientists of the Central Asian region.

The conference will be an important milestone in the establishment of close scientific ties between Uzbek and leading foreign scientists, including in the form of the creation of the international research groups on joint studies of the heritage of the scientists of the medieval East. This recognizes the fact that neither Western nor Eastern science has not developed autonomously, in isolation from each other: their development throughout history was imbued with mutual influence. In this context, the conference will become an important platform for the evaluation of the degree of influence of the medieval East to the development of world civilization and the formation of the foundations of modern scientific disciplines.

It is expected that the conference will assess the scientific-cultural activities of present generations-successors of the noble deeds of great ancestors, which due to its unique way of thinking, talent and diligence in the middle ages has earned widespread respect, the formation and strengthening of spiritual, cultural and intellectual potential, which was to serve as a sustainable and secure development in Central Asia.
