The 76th Plenary Meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) is held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from October 22-27, 2017.

“The 76th plenary meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan was officially opened by Minister Kamalov, Chair of the Organising Committee. In his opening remarks Minister Kamalov highlighted developments in the cotton industry within Uzbekistan and welcomed delegates from around the world.
'I hope that the delegates of the 76th Plenary Meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee and participants in the 13th International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair, as well as all our guests, will see new prospects for cooperation and lay the foundation for mutually beneficial agreements.”
There were also speeches from the chair of the International Cotton Advisory Committee, Ms Claudia Fontana Tobiasson, and the new ICAC Executive Director, Mr Kai Hughes, in which they informed delegates that the committee would be undergoing a major strategic review over the coming year in order to develop a stronger, more effective organization to support member governments.
The ICAC Plenary Meetings are attended by over 400 participants from the public and private sectors from over 40 countries. The last Plenary Meeting of the ICAC was held in Tashkent 21 years ago in 1996. Member governments of the ICAC host Plenary Meetings, alternating between producing and consuming countries as far as possible and rotate from region to the other.
